FOUND: A Vintage Rolex Daytona With Gaddafi's Signature On The Dial, For Sale

Rolex Gaddafi
You want a rare and weird Daytona? You got it.  It's no secret that during the 1970s and 80s, several of the most notorious, and in some cases nefarious, men of the Middle East were large clients of Rolex. And today, we add a new name to the book - Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi.

This 1970s reference 6265 Cosmograph Daytona has the distinct honor of being the very first Rolex to be discovered with a Gaddafi signature on the dial - written in bright red at 12 o'clock, which perfectly matches the color of the word "Daytona" at 6 o'clock.
The watch was retailed via Asprey direct to Libya, and while there is documentation of Gaddafi wearing an 18k gold Datejust in the early 70s, there is no proof he ever wore this watch.  Instead, it is likely he ordered this watch to be given to a close confidant or a visiting dignitary. Regardless, this is super odd watch that has never been seen before - and its overall condition is excellent, with a nice full case and perfect dial with all lume plots present. As such, Antiquorum has it listed at $130,000 - $195,000 for when it comes up for sale next week.  You can see more details here.
