Weekly Round-Up: Cool Old Chronographs Edition

We are focusing on vintage chronographs - each in an entirely different price bracket - that we think look pretty great (but as always, this 100% caveat emptor).

1970S HEUER CAMARO

The Heuer Camaro is underappreciated, and awesome.  The cushion case shape was way ahead of its time, and while it has never really taken off as a collector's piece - but it should!  This example is great looking with a black (turning brown) dial, a tachymeter scale, and it houses the upscale Valjoux 72, three register movement - most Camaros used the two register, Val 7734.  This example appears to be in great shape.  (Original Listing).

OMEGA SPEEDMASTER REF 2998-1

What's there to say about this one? Actually, there's a lot, but we'll only give you the basics.  This is one of the most important Speedmasters ever made.  The Reference 2998-1 was the very first Speedmaster to feature a black tachymetre bezel.  It features dagger hands all across the board, and you almost never see them in this condition.  Price is $16,000 over on TZ, but something tells us there is a collector that's been dying to find of of these early Speedies in this type of condition.  (Original Listing).

1970S ROLEX COSMOGRAPH 6265 TROPICAL REGISTERS

There is tropical and then there is tropical, and this 1970s Daytona (ref 6265) falls into the latter category.  Look at how much those registers have faded to brown, and rather evenly at that! The premium for tropical dials is getting bigger by the day, and this example also happens to be an early screw-down Daytona with original crown, pushers, and crystal.  Price is $50k, but our guess is it will go to a serious collector very quickly.  (Original Listing)
